Starbucks cuts 220 jobs amid headquarters relocation to Nashville

Starbucks is proceeding with a corporate restructuring plan that includes the elimination of 220 jobs. This includes 104 workers who have already been dismissed and an additional 120 employees from the Seattle offices who declined to relocate to the company’s new headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.

The restructuring, led by CEO Brian Niccol, aims to simplify the corporate structure and reduce costs by approximately $2 billion over two years. The cuts primarily affect corporate roles, including teams responsible for store design and construction. This follows a period where the company has already eliminated more than 2,300 corporate positions since last year.

Despite these cuts, Starbucks has recently reported four consecutive quarters of sales growth in its stores. The company’s broader strategy involves reorganizing its international presence, which may include selling portions of its business in China to focus on priority markets.
