Starbucks Faces Police Service Refusal and Burn Lawsuit in Southern California

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies reported being ignored and laughed at by staff at a Starbucks in Riverside, California, prompting Sheriff Chad Bianco to denounce what he called anti‑law‑enforcement treatment. Starbucks later issued an apology, saying it was "deeply sorry" and took responsibility for any disrespect shown to the officers.

In a separate incident, Wildomar resident Leota Walker filed a lawsuit against Starbucks after a drive‑through coffee lid burst, causing second‑degree burns to her abdomen and private areas. Walker’s attorney, Daniel DeSantis, said the chain has long known its beverages are served too hot and has failed to change safety policies. The suit seeks compensation for medical costs, lost wages and emotional pain.
