Starbucks introduces new customization fees for ice removal and toppings

Starbucks has implemented a new customization fee policy effective October 12, 2026. Under the new rules, customers who choose ‘less ice’ or ‘no ice’ must pay an additional 15 TWD if they wish to have the drink topped up with milk or other beverages, a service that was previously free.

The policy also introduces limits and fees for other customizations. Adding flavor syrups or ingredients such as matcha liquid, whipped cream, or cocoa powder will now incur a fee of 15 TWD per item, with a restriction of only one additional serving per item. Previously, some customers were able to add multiple servings of certain ingredients.

Frontline employees have expressed concerns regarding the new policy, noting the difficulty of explaining these changes to customers and managing potential dissatisfaction at the counter. Some social media discussions have highlighted inconsistencies, such as airport locations following different contractual rules, and have called for clearer signage to prevent confusion during the checkout process.
