Starbucks Mexico targets in-person experiences to meet Generation Z trends
Consumer behavior is shifting as Generation Z prioritizes digital validation and experiential value in the hospitality sector. For this demographic, dining decisions are often finalized on social media through research and reviews before they ever enter a physical establishment. They seek coherence in brand values, specifically regarding sustainability, health consciousness, and perceived value.
In response to these evolving trends, Starbucks Mexico is focusing on reclaiming its role as a ‘third space’ to foster community and in-person experiences. While digital channels remain vital—accounting for nearly one-fifth of sales—Alsea’s CEO for Starbucks, Jaime Vasquez, indicates a strategic emphasis on tangible, physical connections to counter the saturation of purely digital interactions.
