Starbucks sees record sales with global Unicorn Frappuccino return
Starbucks has reported significant sales surges driven by the global return of the Unicorn Frappuccino, a viral limited-edition beverage. In the United Kingdom, the drink reached a peak sales rate of 111 units per minute, with 75,000 sold over a three-day period between August 15 and August 17. The launch also saw record sales of accompanying Unicorn Cake Pops.
In Mexico, the beverage drove the highest Sunday sales of 2026 for Starbucks on August 16, with total sales increasing by 16.3 percent and transactions rising by 12.5 percent compared to the yearly Sunday average. The total volume of Unicorn Frappuccinos sold in Mexico during this period reportedly doubled the volume seen during its original 2017 launch.
Despite these product-specific successes, Alsea, the operator of Starbucks in Mexico, faces a complex financial outlook due to reduced consumer dynamism in the region and more moderate growth expectations for the second half of the year.
