Starbucks Workers United launches nationwide boycott

Starbucks Workers United, representing over 12,000 baristas, has launched its first nationwide boycott against Starbucks. The union is demanding a first contract that includes a minimum $17 hourly wage, sufficient working hours, improved staffing, and enhanced workplace protections. The boycott follows years of negotiations and allegations of union-busting and hundreds of federal labor law violations.

Separately, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel Crystal Carey has identified seven pending cases aimed at overturning Biden-era precedents. These legal challenges target rules regarding captive-audience meetings, severance agreements, workplace dress codes, and employer predictions concerning unionization. This shift follows a change in the Board's composition, which now holds a 3-1 Republican majority.
