Starcloud raises $250 million for orbital data centers
Starcloud, a Washington-based startup developing orbital data-center satellites, has secured a $250 million Series A extension. The funding round, led by Manhattan West, brings the company’s total capital raised since 2024 to $450 million and establishes a post-money valuation of $2.3 billion.
New investors participating in the round include NVIDIA and Cisco Investments, alongside existing backers such as Benchmark and EQT. The capital is intended to support manufacturing and launch operations, including the development of a 100,000-square-foot facility in Woodinville, Washington, and the Starcloud-3 spacecraft, which is intended for use with SpaceX’s Starship.
The company is collaborating with NVIDIA on the Space-1 Vera Rubin Module to deploy advanced GPUs in space. Starcloud has previously achieved milestones such as orbiting an NVIDIA H100 GPU and running AI model training in orbit. The startup has filed with U.S. regulators for a potential constellation of up to 88,000 satellites.
