Stargate Hydrogen secures 20.6 million Euro EU grant for Estonian expansion

Stargate Hydrogen has signed a grant agreement with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) for 20.6 million Euros from the EU Innovation Fund. The funding is designated to expand the company’s manufacturing facility in Tallinn, Estonia.

The expansion will be implemented in phases to produce alkaline electrolyser electrodes, pressurized alkaline stacks, and electrolyser systems. The planned annual production capacities are 250 MW, 150 MW, and 66 MW, respectively. The company utilizes a patented ceramic-based catalyst in its electrodes to replace precious metals, aiming to reduce dependence on imported critical raw materials and lower the cost of green hydrogen.

Over a ten-year period, the project is projected to avoid approximately 3 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions by supporting industries such as steel and chemicals. The initiative is expected to create roughly 150 direct high-value jobs and support additional employment in logistics, construction, and maintenance across the European supply chain.
