Stari Grad Sarajevo invests 1.4 million KM in landslide remediation

The Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo has invested over 1.4 million KM into the remediation and evacuation efforts regarding a landslide at Curine njive. The site, located within the territory of Republika Srpska, was caused by the continuous formation of an illegal landfill over several years.

While much of the construction waste has been removed, the municipality is calling on the Sarajevo Canton Government to release 1.6 million KM in promised funds to continue the work. Local officials are also appealing to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and international institutions to address what they describe as an inter-entity ecological catastrophe.
