Starlink antenna seized in Rio de Janeiro prison amid drug bust

Police at the Gabriel Ferreira Castilho penitentiary in the Gericinó complex of Bangu, Rio de Janeiro, confiscated a Starlink satellite‑internet antenna, a router, four mobile phones and sachets of dried marijuana after intelligence indicated an attempt to bypass signal‑blocking measures. The equipment will be sent to the 34th Police District for further investigation, and a disciplinary inquiry has been opened within the prison system.

In a related operation the same day, a female visitor was arrested while trying to enter the nearby Inspetor José Antônio da Costa Barros facility with approximately 580 grams of cocaine concealed in her intimate area. She was charged with drug trafficking and will remain in custody pending trial.
