Starlink antennas targeted in Bulgarian arson attack

Two masked individuals set fire to 11 out of 17 Starlink antennas at a secret facility near Sofia, Bulgaria. The antennas were reportedly used to provide critical communication connections for the Ukrainian military.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev confirmed an investigation into the incident but declined to disclose specific details, stating that cooperation with partner agencies is ongoing. Lithuanian officials have linked this arson to a similar attack on a Starlink ground station in Poland in late September, suggesting a series of sabotage operations intended to undermine Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Separately, former US officials report that both the Biden and Trump administrations have previously requested that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk activate or deactivate Starlink services in various regions, including Ukraine, Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, to support or restrict specific foreign policy objectives.
