Starlink brings satellite internet to Paraguayan schools and Copa Airlines planes

Starlink is expanding its satellite services across Latin America. In Paraguay, the rollout began at a rural school in Ybycuí, with a plan to install 1,600 satellite dishes and connect more than 4,000 schools by year‑end, potentially reaching half of the country’s 8,000 institutions. The program, led by the national telecom Copaco, also aims to extend connectivity to health centers and police stations in remote communities.

Copa Airlines announced it will be the first Latin American carrier to offer Starlink‑based Wi‑Fi on its fleet. The inaugural Starlink‑equipped flight took place on 4 July 2026, and the airline plans to finish outfitting all aircraft by the first quarter of 2027. Free service will be available to premium‑tier ConnectMiles members and executive‑class passengers, while other travelers can purchase access.

Both initiatives highlight the growing use of SpaceX’s Starlink network to improve digital access in education, public services, and air travel throughout the region.
