Starlink expands in-flight Wi-Fi rollout for United and Aer Lingus

Major airlines are expanding the use of Starlink satellite internet to enhance in-flight connectivity.

United Airlines has begun rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi to its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner fleet, with the first aircraft scheduled to enter passenger service on a Friday night. This expansion follows a June milestone involving Boeing 777-200 aircraft. United aims to have Starlink installed on nearly 1,000 aircraft by the end of the year, with the goal of equipping its entire widebody fleet by summer 2027. The service remains free for MileagePlus members.

Aer Lingus has completed the rollout of Starlink internet access across its entire Airbus A321neo fleet, including both LRs and XLRs. The service is available on various routes, including transatlantic flights from Shannon to New York JFK and Boston. Following the completion of the A321neo fleet, the airline is expected to focus on its remaining A330 aircraft.
