Indigo Partners' low‑cost airlines to install Starlink Wi‑Fi by 2027

A group of low‑cost carriers owned by private‑equity firm Indigo Partners – including Cebu Pacific of the Philippines, Frontier Airlines in the United States, JetSMART in South America, Wizz Air in Europe and Volaris in Mexico – will equip more than 1,000 aircraft with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet system beginning in 2027.

Cebu Pacific will become the first Southeast Asian low‑cost carrier to offer the service, while JetSMART will be the first ultra‑low‑cost airline in South America to provide Starlink‑enabled broadband throughout the flight. Frontier will be the first U.S. ultra‑low‑cost carrier to install the technology.

Starlink promises high‑speed, low‑latency connectivity that supports streaming video, online gaming, video calls and other data‑intensive activities from take‑off to landing, and it will also improve real‑time communications for pilots, cabin crew and ground‑operations teams. The rollout reflects a wider industry shift toward low‑Earth‑orbit satellite connectivity, competing with Amazon’s Kuiper system, and marks one of the largest global commitments to next‑generation inflight Wi‑Fi.
