Starlink refunds customers after billing error on July price hike
Starlink announced that it will revert affected existing customers to their previous subscription prices and issue refunds for overcharges caused by a billing error linked to the July price increase. The company says the excess amount will be returned automatically to the original payment method within ten business days and no action is required from customers.
The error involved raising the standard "Privathaushalt 200 Mbit/s" plan from €50 to €55 and, in some cases, moving users into a €75 plan without consent. Customers on the earlier €29 plan were also automatically upgraded to €35. The German consumer‑rights group Verbraucherzentrale Niedersachsen had previously issued a public cease‑and‑desist against Starlink over the unclear pricing clause. Starlink added that while plan names may change, the service features will remain the same.
