Starlink signs deals with 41 airlines and targets Wizz Air fleet for 2027 rollout

Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite‑internet service, has signed contracts with 41 airlines to equip more than 7,000 aircraft worldwide. Partners include United Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, Hawaiian Airlines, Air Canada and EL AL, among others. The agreements expand the use of Starlink’s low‑Earth‑orbit constellation, which offers lower latency than traditional geostationary systems.

Wizz Air, a European low‑cost carrier, announced it will install Starlink equipment across its entire fleet beginning in 2027, becoming the first budget airline in Europe to provide broadband connectivity on board. The airline says new aircraft will be factory‑fitted with the technology, allowing high‑capacity, low‑latency internet at cruising altitude. The rollout adds to growing competition in the in‑flight connectivity market, which also includes Amazon’s Project Kuiper.

The moves are expected to make high‑speed internet a standard amenity on commercial flights, potentially reducing price‑based disparities in passenger connectivity.
