Starlink technology expands connectivity in Portugal and Brazil

Starlink satellite internet technology is being deployed for diverse purposes in Portugal and Brazil. In Guiães, Vila Real, the local Parish Council has installed a Starlink system through the PTRR program to ensure emergency communications. This setup provides a backup connection during wildfires, natural disasters, or power outages, allowing the council to maintain contact with Civil Protection and security forces. The public can also access Wi-Fi at the council building during network failures.

In Brazil, the expansion of satellite connectivity is reaching the consumer market. Following Vivo's announcement of Vivo Satélite, which integrates Starlink service, interest has grown regarding hardware compatibility. While satellite connectivity is often associated with high-end devices, certain mid-range smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy A57, are reportedly capable of supporting this technology through advanced modems and optimized antennas.
