Starlink to provide satellite internet to 6,000 Argentine rural schools

A national initiative in Argentina aims to provide satellite internet to 6,000 rural schools and isolated communities through an agreement between the National Communications Entity (ENACOM), the Ministry of Human Capital, and Starlink Argentina. The project, titled ‘Satellite Connectivity in Public Management Educational Establishments of the Argentine Republic’, involves a joint investment of approximately $22 million. Starlink will provide 6,000 connectivity kits, including equipment and two years of priority service, valued at roughly $10 million. The remaining $12 million will be funded by the Universal Service Fund (FSU) to cover installation, technical support, and a third year of service.

In the province of Neuquén, the provincial Ministry of Education has already begun implementing a local connectivity infrastructure project. Nearly 300 schools in the region are set to receive Starlink service, specifically targeting rural areas and remote locations where traditional internet options are insufficient. This local effort supports the ‘Plan Pehuén’, which distributes technological devices to classrooms and requires stable bandwidth to function effectively. The Neuquén program is part of a continuous improvement policy managed by the provincial government to meet growing digital demands in educational institutions.
