Starlink to provide satellite internet to 6,000 Argentine schools

Argentina has implemented a national program to provide satellite internet to 6,000 rural schools through an agreement between the National Communications Entity (Enacom) and Starlink. The initiative, part of a broader plan to expand connectivity in hard-to-reach areas, involves Starlink providing 6,000 high-speed kits and 24 months of service as a “donation” valued at approximately US$ 9.97 million.

Enacom will utilize the Universal Service Fund to cover installation costs and internet service for a third year, totaling roughly US$ 11.89 million. Following this period, provinces will become responsible for ongoing costs. In the province of Corrientes, local authorities have already begun using Starlink to connect rural schools, having previously funded antennas themselves. The provincial government is now seeking to participate in the national program to replace existing point-to-point systems with more advanced satellite technology.
