Start to Sing campaign launches choral music events across the Netherlands

The inaugural Start to Sing campaign is taking place across the Netherlands, featuring hundreds of singing activities designed to encourage people of all skill levels to participate in choral music.

In Apeldoorn, more than twenty choirs are hosting open rehearsals from September 19 to 27. The local program includes free workshops for children and adults, a sing-along concert at Orpheus, and performances during the Nazomerfeest at Koninginnelaan. The initiative aims to lower the barrier for those hesitant to join a choir due to vocal insecurity or lack of information.

In Utrecht, the campaign kicks off on September 19 at the Domplein with a large-scale sing-along led by conductor Rinske van der Meer and pianist Martijn Vriesman. The event also features various workshops covering styles such as South African singing, barbershop, and Baltic song, as well as a session on conducting. To date, 375 singing activities have registered for the campaign.
