Startpage integrates natively into Firefox for European users

Startpage, a Netherlands-based privacy-focused search engine, is being integrated as a native search option in the Firefox browser. This rollout begins with Firefox desktop users in five European countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.

Prior to this integration, Firefox users were already performing over one billion searches annually via Startpage, though these required manual settings or extensions. The new update, starting with Firefox 154, allows users to select Startpage directly from the browser's search menu. The company emphasizes a model that avoids personal data collection, user profiling, and AI-generated answers, focusing instead on high-quality results without tracking IP addresses or search histories.

Mobile support for Android and iOS is expected to follow this desktop launch.
