Startups in Spain and Portugal face profitability challenges
A study conducted by CaixaBank DayOne and Afi reveals that profitability remains a significant challenge for startups in Spain and Portugal. Based on 1,006 entrepreneurial projects from the 19th EmprendeXXI Awards, the report highlights a gap between current performance and future expectations.
In 2024, only 28% of the participating startups achieved a positive operating result, and only 56% of the analyzed companies reported any results at all. However, there is strong optimism for the future; 92% of companies expect to report results by 2026, and approximately 73% anticipate reaching profitability by that year.
