State Bank Deputy Governor emphasizes user-centric digital transformation

At the ‘Smart Connection - Creating a Digital Ecosystem’ workshop in Hanoi, Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, emphasized that digital transformation must directly benefit citizens and improve their lived experiences.

To illustrate his point, Dung shared a personal experience from 2019 involving a family member at Bach Mai Hospital. He described how cumbersome discharge and payment procedures forced a weak patient to leave their treatment room and navigate complex administrative steps in the heat for 1.5 hours, resulting in the patient being so exhausted they had to be readmitted immediately.

Dung noted that this situation has since changed due to digital advancements. Bach Mai Hospital leadership reported that the ‘Bach Mai Care’ application has streamlined the patient journey. Through the app, integrated with VNeID for security, patients can now schedule appointments, select specialists, and handle payments via QR codes, significantly reducing the need for physical queues and manual administrative hurdles.
