State Bank of India faces cyberattack amid data theft allegations
The State Bank of India (SBI) has reportedly been targeted in a cyberattack, leading to allegations that the personal data of 3,897 customers has been stolen. According to reports cited by the Congress party, the leaked information—which is allegedly available on the dark web—includes names, dates of birth, mobile numbers, email addresses, home addresses, loan records, and branch or customer identifiers.
The Congress party has criticized the Modi government's handling of cybersecurity, claiming that despite a hacking alert being issued on October 16, the government failed to take adequate action. The opposition party stated that such lapses in cybersecurity pose a significant risk to both the national economy and security.
