Britt McHenry leaves State Department after NBA incident

Britt McHenry, a former ESPN journalist and press advisor at the U.S. State Department, has left her position following a confrontation at an NBA game in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred during a matchup between the Washington Wizards and the Milwaukee Bucks at the Capital One Arena.

Reports indicate that McHenry intervened when a spectator began making insulting comments regarding Milwaukee Bucks player Kyle Kuzma and his fiancée, model Winnie Harlow. Following the intervention, McHenry became involved in a heated altercation with fans. Video footage released by TMZ shows McHenry throwing a drink toward the crowd amidst chants from spectators demanding her removal.

McHenry’s departure comes less than 24 hours after her promotion to press advisor for the team of Deputy Secretary of State Jake Helberg. While some reports suggest she was dismissed due to her conduct, others indicate she resigned. The State Department has declined to comment on the matter, citing it as a private personnel issue.
