State Farm and NVFC provide $1.5 million in grants to volunteer fire departments

State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) have distributed $1.5 million to 150 volunteer fire departments across the United States through the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. Each recipient department receives a $10,000 grant to purchase essential equipment aimed at enhancing responder safety and community protection.

With 82 percent of U.S. fire departments consisting entirely or mostly of volunteers, many operate on limited budgets that hinder their ability to acquire modern gear. Since the program's inception in 2024, a total of $4 million has been distributed to support these local departments. Recipients include various departments in Texas and Indiana, such as the Cockrell Hill Fire Department in Dallas and the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Company in Muncie.
