State Guard officer killed in Reynosa

Florencio García Soto, an active member of the Tamaulipas State Guard, was shot and killed in the Los Muros neighborhood of Reynosa, Mexico. The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday while the officer was off duty.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and screams near Querétaro Street. García Soto's body was later discovered in a vacant lot on Circuito Ciudad de México Oriente, lying next to a vehicle. His brother, Luis Antonio García Soto, reported the discovery after being alerted by the victim's partner.

The Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office and ministerial agents have launched an investigation, conducting searches in multiple areas of the neighborhood to collect evidence. As of now, authorities have not reported any arrests or identified a motive for the killing.
