State Labour Inspectorate outlines process for terminating contracts with missing employers

The State Labour Inspectorate (VDI) has issued a reminder regarding procedures for employees whose employers have ceased operations or become unreachable. When an employer fails to pay wages and their whereabouts cannot be determined, the employment relationship does not automatically end, which may hinder the employee's ability to secure new employment or exercise legal rights.

To resolve this, employees can submit a written request (Form No. 23) to the VDI via mail, courier, in person, or electronically. Following an investigation to locate the employer or their representative, if no location is found within 10 working days, the VDI will issue a certificate officially confirming the termination of the employment contract. This certificate serves as formal proof of the contract's end.
