State Lottery trial continues in Skopje court
The trial regarding the “State Lottery” continues at the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje. The case involves former First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, former director of AD “State Lottery” Perparim Bajrami, and six other individuals.
During the proceedings, the Public Prosecutor's Office presented extensive documentation, including foreign currency orders, bank statements, invoices, and government decisions. The evidence focuses on the procurement of video lottery terminals and the business relationship with the foreign partner, “Casinos Austria”.
Documents presented include agreements from 2013 regarding the establishment of the joint venture “State Video Lottery of the Republic of Macedonia – Casinos Austria DOO Skopje,” as well as government session minutes and the 2023 work program for AD “State Lottery”. Defense attorneys have raised questions regarding the interpretation of contractual relations with the foreign partner and the circumstances surrounding the procurement and use of gaming machines. The indictment alleges that the defendants exceeded their official powers, causing damages to AD “State Lottery” totaling 596,125,511 denars.
