President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced a 37.8 billion‑peso investment to upgrade road infrastructure across Oaxaca’s Mixteca region. The funding is part of the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río 2025‑2026 plan, which targets more than 1,200 km of roads, with 65 new roads and 14 strategic projects slated for completion; nine projects have already been finished. The programme is expected to create about 1,470 jobs and benefit roughly 37,000 people in the state.

During the same tour, Sheinbaum delivered the first tranche of the “El Maíz es la Raíz” program in Suchilquitongo, providing 1.7 million pesos to ten Milpateca communities. The initiative, administered directly by farmers, supplies light communal machinery and aims to conserve native corn seed while improving livelihoods. It targets 400,000 small producers by 2026; currently 327,320 producers in 673 municipalities are served, including 72,292 producers in Oaxaca.

Sheinbaum also met with Section 22 of the CNTE teachers union in Oaxaca on 13 August, receiving a set of demands and discussing the continuation of dialogue on education‑sector issues.
