State of Mexico announces Independence Day celebrations in Toluca

The Government of the State of Mexico has announced a series of events to commemorate the 216th anniversary of Mexican Independence. On September 15, the 'Grito de Independencia' ceremony will be led by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez at the Plaza de los Mártires in Toluca, followed by a fireworks display.

The musical celebration will feature performances by María José, Germán Montero, and Aarón y su Grupo Ilusión. The festivities are designed as a free public event for families to celebrate national identity and history.

Additionally, the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism will participate in the Civic-Military Parade on September 16. For the third consecutive year, the state will present an allegorical float dedicated to independence heroines Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez and Leona Vicario. Created by the Museum of Modern Art, the float uses layered materials to depict these historical figures, aiming to highlight the role of women in Mexico's history.
