State of Mexico digitizes testamentary report procedures

The Judicial Power of the State of Mexico (PJEdoMéx) has approved a new administrative rule to digitize the process for obtaining reports regarding the existence or non-existence of wills. This measure, approved by the Judicial Administration Body (OAJ), allows users and lawyers to complete the entire procedure online.

Under the new system, applicants can submit their requests and proof of payment from any computer. The Judicial Archive Department will perform the necessary searches and send the results directly to the user's provided email address. This transition aims to eliminate the need for physical visits to the Judicial Archive, thereby reducing travel time, costs, and delays in probate and intestate succession proceedings.

In addition to digitalization, the OAJ addressed other administrative matters, including the establishment of a specialized committee to prevent and address sexual harassment and harassment within the judiciary. The body also reviewed a proposed protocol for conducting toxicological and alcohol testing for judicial personnel, emphasizing informed consent, confidentiality, and chain of custody.
