State of Mexico implements housing reforms and digital tools

The Government of the State of Mexico is implementing legislative reforms and technological tools to stimulate real estate investment and improve housing access. Supported by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, recent reforms to the State Impact Commission Law aim to streamline the acquisition of the State Impact Evaluation (EVIE).

To increase transparency and efficiency, the Secretariat of Urban Development and Infrastructure (Sedui) has introduced the EVIE 2.0 platform and Pulsar, a tool allowing users to track urban procedures via QR codes. These digital initiatives are intended to provide legal certainty and simplify administrative processes for urban development and land use.

Additionally, new reforms to the Housing Law have been published, strengthening social housing policies and addressing rental alternatives. With approximately 36 percent of households in the state currently renting, the updates aim to provide a more robust legal framework for dignified and affordable housing. The reforms also update the powers of Sedui regarding the authorization of urban developments and the coordination of infrastructure delivery to municipalities.
