State of Mexico launches joint initiatives to prevent school violence and child labor

The State of Mexico government has signed an agreement between the teachers' union SMSEM, the Secretariat of Women (SeMujeres) and the child protection system SIPINNA to strengthen training for educators on identifying, preventing and addressing violence in schools. The pact provides conferences, workshops and a guide for safe school environments, and promotes the “En Redes No Te Enredes” digital‑risk campaign.

In parallel, the state is conducting a series of seven regional forums to hear children’s and adolescents’ perspectives on child labor. Three forums have been held in Valle de Chalco Solidaridad, Tecámac and Tlalnepantla, with a fourth planned for Atlacomulco. Coordinated by the Secretariat of Government, the Labor Secretariat, SeMujeres via SIPINNA, DIFEM and the state legislature, the initiative seeks to analyse the causes of child labor and design concrete public‑policy actions.

Both programs aim to improve protection and rights for children and adolescents across the State of Mexico.
