State of Mexico Opens Second Round of University Pre‑registration for 2026‑27 Intake

The State of Mexico government announced the opening of a second round of pre‑registration for new students wishing to enter public higher‑education institutions for the 2026‑27 academic year. The process, which remains open until 31 July, can be completed online through the Sistema de Prerregistro de Nuevo Ingreso a Instituciones de Educación Superior (SIPUES). Applicants may choose from programmes offered by Technological Institutes, State Universities, Polytechnics, the Intercultural University, the Digital University, the Conservatory of Music and Schools of Fine Arts within the state.

Education Secretary Miguel Ángel Hernández Espejel said the first round, held 2 March to 15 May, concluded registrations for the 36 normal schools. A third and final round is scheduled for 3–24 August 2026. Classes are expected to begin between August and September 2026, in line with each institution’s calendar. The initiative is part of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez’s policy to broaden access to higher education.
