State of Mexico Orchestra begins Tren Maya tour in southeast Mexico
The Symphonic Orchestra of the State of Mexico (OSEM) has launched its ‘Tren Maya Tour’ across southeastern Mexico to celebrate its 55th anniversary. Directed by Rodrigo Macías, the tour aims to bring symphonic music to various regions, including Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
In Palenque, Chiapas, the orchestra performed a repertoire of Mexican and European compositions for passengers and locals. The tour also includes educational activities, such as a recent session in Boca del Cerro, Tabasco, designed to introduce audiences to orchestral instruments and structures.
A highlight of the tour will be a free symphonic rock concert in Mérida on October 21 at Parque La Plancha. This performance will feature a tribute to classic Mexican rock bands Caifanes and Jaguares, collaborating with the project Metamorfeame and guest musicians including César ‘Vampiro’ López and Joshua ‘El Rey Jaguar.’
