State of Mexico prosecutor sentences man to 50 years for kidnapping
The State of Mexico Attorney General's Office (FGJEM) has secured a 50-year prison sentence for Aarón Noé García López for express kidnapping with the intent to rob in Toluca.
On May 10, 2025, García López and accomplices intercepted a victim driving a Volkswagen Jetta in the San Pablo Autopan area. The victim was held at gunpoint, handcuffed, and forced into a vehicle. During the incident, the victim was interrogated and coerced into performing various bank transfers and contacting family members to demand money. Following investigations, authorities obtained an arrest warrant and successfully prosecuted the defendant.
In a separate incident in Ecatepec, Jhony de la Cruz Sánchez was sentenced to 47 years and six months in prison for the homicide of his brother. The crime occurred on April 26, 2025, after an altercation in which the defendant doused the victim in liquid and set him on fire.
