State of Mexico restores forests to protect rivers
The Government of the State of Mexico, through the Forest Protector of the State of Mexico (Probosque), has been working since 2024 to restore gallery forests. The initiative focuses on planting native species such as ahuehuetes, willows, and ailes to act as natural filters, protect against flooding, and create biological corridors.
To date, Probosque has completed 79 work sessions covering 510.86 kilometers. The primary municipalities involved in these conservation efforts include Timilpan, Tejupilco, Atlacomulco, Coatepec Harinas, and Valle de Bravo.
