State of Mexico secures 2,276 properties, averts 5.8 million pesos extortion

The State of Mexico government announced that its Operation “Restitución” secured 2,276 inmuebles linked to illegal dispossession, of which 1,396 have already been returned to legitimate owners. The operation, coordinated by the State Attorney General’s Office, the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, the Secretaría de Marina, the Guardia Nacional, the State Security Secretariat and municipal police, conducted 14 raids and 41 inspections across 22 municipalities between 4 and 10 July, seizing 55 properties (41 houses, 14 land parcels).

During the same period, Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez led a “Mesa de Paz” where the State Cyber Police reported that 842 complaints were handled and more than 5.78 million pesos in attempted extortion were prevented. The cases included 323 telephone fraud reports, 296 telephone extortion attempts and other threats. Victims were urged to use the 24‑hour anonymous hotline 089 for assistance.
