Mexico captures 'La Muñeca' in Morelos linked to Clara Brugada aide murders

On 26 June, security forces from the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC) arrested Jovany “N”, known as “La Muñeca”, near the Mercado Centenario 1970 in Yautepec, Morelos. He was presented to a public prosecutor of the Fiscalía General de la República.

Investigators say the suspect participated in the 14 May shooting that killed Ximena Guzmán, Clara Brugada’s personal secretary, and advisor José Muñoz on Calzada de Tlalpan. “La Muñeca” is also identified as a member of a criminal cell that controls drug‑sale points in Mexico City’s Gustavo A. Madero borough and operates in the State of Mexico. The cell is linked to “El Chamaco”, another participant who was later found dead, suggesting possible internal retaliation. Security Secretary Pablo Vázquez indicated the homicide could be a reprisal within the organization.
