State Railway of Thailand launches Bangkok‑Ayutthaya BNEX service

On 1 August, Thailand’s State Railway of Thailand (SRT) began operating the new air‑conditioned “Bangkok Connex” (BNEX) train between Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station in Bangkok and Ayutthaya. The service runs daily, with six round‑trips on weekdays and four on weekends, and the journey takes about one hour.

Promotional fares of 30 baht to 50 baht are offered until 31 October. Tickets are sold at station windows and all seats are free‑seating. The BNEX uses refurbished Japanese Kiha 40/48 diesel cars equipped with air‑conditioning and some Japanese‑language signage. SRT expects the service to encourage public‑transport use, reduce car dependence, and support day‑trip tourism to the historic city of Ayutthaya.
