Anas restores State Road 185 in Sicily after landslide damage
Anas has completed urgent infrastructure repairs on State Road 185 (Di Sella Mandrazzi) in the province of Messina, Sicily. The works focused on a 100-meter stretch at km 31,800 between Novara di Sicilia and Francavilla di Sicilia that had been severely compromised by a landslide.
To address the hydrogeological risk, technicians installed deep foundations using micropiles paired with a reinforced concrete retaining wall. The roadway was reconstructed using reinforced earth techniques, new asphalt, modern safety barriers, and updated road signage.
Officials from Anas stated that the intervention restores an essential and safe connection for local communities and economic activities in the Alcantara Valley, improving the infrastructure's resistance to future instability.
