State Street and Harrison Street announce key executive appointments

State Street Corporation has appointed Tim Helyar as the new head of Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Helyar succeeds the retired Lochiel Crafter and will oversee regional business strategy, governance, and client engagement to support the company’s growth in the region.

Helyar, who joined State Street in 2021 and previously led its Australian operations, brings over 27 years of financial services experience. He will report to Stefan Gmuer, head of International.

Separately, Harrison Street Asset Management has announced several leadership changes to support its global expansion. Dan Fanelli has been appointed as managing director and co-head of the Investor Solutions Group in the U.S. He will work alongside James Choi, who has been promoted from his role as head of Asia in Tokyo to focus on North American institutional clients.

Additionally, Dan Kim has joined the firm as a managing director in Chicago, focusing on infrastructure. These moves are part of Harrison Street’s strategy to scale its platform and deepen relationships with institutional investors across its real estate, infrastructure, and credit sectors.
