Stateless Model Context Protocol update boosts AI integration and fuels Kai 9000 assistant
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) has received a major revision that makes session identifiers stateless, allowing servers to share session tokens across load‑balanced farms. This change, detailed in the official specification released in May and clarified by Arcade’s Nate Barbettini, is intended to improve scalability for AI services handling millions of concurrent users. Barbettini explained, “In the current system the client sends a session ID with each request… making it harder for servers to operate at large scale; the new approach removes that limitation.”
At the same time, the open‑source AI assistant Kai 9000, developed in Poland, leverages the updated MCP to provide a rich, interactive interface with persistent memory, multi‑LLM support, local encryption, and the ability to run tools on Android devices. Its features include native buttons, forms, dashboards, and offline model execution, positioning it as a versatile, privacy‑focused alternative to mainstream chatbots.
