Static-X files $1M lawsuit against former filmmaker

The band Static-X, along with bassist Antonio Campos and Brian C. Ebejer, has filed a lawsuit in California against videographer and musician Matt Zicari, also known as Matt Zane or Lord Zane. The suit seeks over $1 million in damages.

The complaint alleges that Zicari, who was previously paid approximately $75,000 to work on the band’s official documentary, ‘Evil Disco’, is now using unauthorized and confidential footage to exploit the group. The plaintiffs claim Zicari has attempted to monetize these clips by soliciting financial support from fans and allegedly accessed the band’s official X account to post disparaging remarks.

Legal claims include copyright infringement, breach of contract, breach of confidence, and invasion of privacy. The lawsuit asserts that Zicari’s recent actions contradict his previous recorded support for the band during the 2023 filming process.
