Statkraft CEO Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal tops state-owned company pay list

Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal, CEO of Statkraft, received the highest compensation among leaders of wholly-owned state companies in 2025. According to the government's 2027 state budget proposal, her total remuneration exceeded 9 million NOK.

Her compensation package included a base salary of approximately 7.6 million NOK, which represented a 16.6 percent increase from the previous year. This increase may be attributed to the fact that she assumed the role on April 1, 2024. Additional components included a bonus of 988,000 NOK, pension costs of 200,000 NOK, and other benefits totaling 272,000 NOK.

Other high-earning executives in state-owned entities include the CEO of the recently privatized investment company Argentum, who received approximately 7.1 million NOK, and the head of Posten Bring, who earned roughly 7 million NOK. Other notable figures included leaders from Petoro and Vygruppen.
