Statue of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee defaced in Ranchi

In the Harmu area of Ranchi, unidentified individuals defaced a statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee with black soot late Sunday night in an attempt to damage it.

Following the incident, leaders and workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gathered at the site to protest. Party members cleaned the statue with water and performed a ceremonial offering of garlands.

BJP leaders, including former Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash and state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev, condemned the act as an insult to national integrity and a challenge to law and order. They have called on the state government and police to review local CCTV footage to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
