Statue of Unity launches 600‑passenger river cruise to boost tourism

A new river cruise vessel has been launched on the Narmada River at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, India. The boat can carry up to 600 passengers, measures 30 m by 12 m, and includes a 5 × 4 m stage, decorative lighting, and a dining area for 250 guests. It is designed for weddings, corporate events, cultural performances and other special occasions. The launch follows safety clearances and regulatory approval from the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Regulatory Authority. It joins an existing 200‑passenger cruise that already serves visitors, which has received positive feedback. Officials expect the larger vessel to attract more domestic and international tourists, generate local employment and stimulate economic activity in the region.
