Stavros Papastavrou discusses Omonia goals and Cypriot refereeing

Omonia President Stavros Papastavrou has outlined the club’s long-term vision and commented on the current state of Cypriot football. Speaking ahead of the match against Thelta, Papastavrou expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete at a high level, noting that participation in European competitions has become a standard for the club. He stated that the goal is continuous growth, aiming for higher league finishes each year.

Addressing the resignation of Dimitris Grigoris from the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) Refereeing Committee, Papastavrou described it as a personal decision. He emphasized that the changes Grigoris attempted to implement are necessary for the sport, given the increased investment and rising standards in Cypriot football. Papastavrou called on the CFA leadership to take responsibility and implement the reforms needed to support the development of the game.
