Stay Tune wins Gran Premio Jockey Club at San Isidro

Stay Tune secured a dramatic victory in the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1), the second leg of the Argentine Triple Crown, held at San Isidro. Despite being in last place at the final stretch, the colt accelerated through demanding turf conditions following heavy rain to overtake 13 rivals.

Hi Pocho, the pre-race favorite, finished as the runner-up. The win marks a significant milestone for trainer Carlos Daniel Etchechoury, who achieved his tenth victory in this historic race over the last 20 years. For the Las Monjitas stud, it represents their fourth win in the last seven editions of the event.

Jockey Cristian Velázquez, making his public debut on the horse after only riding him in training, described the race as unexpected, noting that the horse did not behave as anticipated early on but responded powerfully in the final stages.
